If the United Way of Okaloosa & Walton Counties is close to your heart, you may find that your greatest opportunity to make a significant gift is through your will or estate plan.  This type of gift is a meaningful way to create a legacy of caring for others.  Please contact us if you are interested in including United Way in your philanthropic or if you have already done so.

 

Types of Planned Gifts

 

Bequests:  Designate the United Way of Okaloosa & Walton Counties in your will.  This is the most common form of planned gift.  It reduces your overall estate taxes and is tax-free to the United Way.  This type of gift can be a percentage of your estate, a designated amount, a specific property, or the residual.   

 

Retirement Plan:  IRA, 401(k) plans, pensions, etc. can be gifted to the United Way.  100% of this gift amount is exempt from taxes.  You can choose to gift the remaining balance or a percentage of the balance.

 

Life Insurance:  Designate the United Way of Okaloosa & Walton Counties as beneficiary, co-beneficiary or contingent beneficiary of your life insurance policy.  As the donor you would receive an income tax deduction for this decision.

 

Revocable Living Trusts:  Any gift that can be given through a will can be given through a revocable living trust.  Just name United Way of Okaloosa & Walton Counties as one of the beneficiaries of your trust. 

 

Charitable Gift Annuity, Charitable Remainder Trusts, and/or  Charitable Leader Trusts:  Any of these arrangements can provide income for you or your heirs and also for the United Way of Okaloosa & Walton Counties.
