Why do YOU Give United?
When we asked our United Way Board Members why they LIVE UNITED, GIVE UNITED this is what they had to say:
"The reason I support the United Way is simple. Hospice was there for me and my family while my grandfather lived out his last days. They made a difficult situation as comfortable as possible. His nurse even went as far as to attend his funeral. I will forever be a supporter of the United Way."
Walter M. Hooks
Vice President Regions Bank
"As superintendent of Okaloosa County Schools it is an honor to work with over 3,000 dedicated employees who work hard for children everyday and are also extremely generous in their donations to families and agencies through the United Way’s annual giving campaign. As a contributor to the United Way, for over 35 years, my husband and I see our donations as a way to give back to those people in our community who are needy and less fortunate."

Alexis Tibbetts
Okaloosa Superintendent of Schools

"As one of the larger employers in our area, I think it is vital to play an active role within our community and to step up in support of the various charity organizations represented thru the United Way of Okaloosa-Walton Counties. I am very proud that our campaign has grown from a little over $1,600 in 1996 to almost $200,000 this past year. It is an honor and privilege to work with all of these great agencies.”
Wayne Campbell
Fort Walton Beach Medical Center
"United Way is Okaloosa/Walton’s response
for making our community stronger and more stable. Your United Way invests
resources and creates partnerships that support youth, families, seniors and
others in need. You can make a difference in our community by contributing
to your United Way."
John F. (Jack) Azzaretto
Vice Provost and Dean
UWF-Emerald Coast

"United Way plays such a vital role in our community because it is at the core of helping people when their need may be at its greatest. It is so important that people have somewhere to turn to for assistance during times of personal challenges. United Way helps individuals find a means of helping themselves, which is an important step in restoring one's optimism for what their future holds. Helping United Way is contagious - once employees begin participating and giving back to the community, it becomes a way of life for them."
James D. Curry
County Administrator
